Dear Members,

I am writing to inform you that we have now sadly had to make the difficult decision for Maxi Fun Club to come to an end. We have tried during 2024 to gain some more grant funding, but unfortunately our grant applications have been unsuccessful on separate occasions during 2024. I would like to thank all those that gave of their time and efforts with these grant applications.

​

The positive news that I can share is that Aim Higher which I am sure many of you will know are going to take over the running and funding of the exclusive Friday night swimming sessions and the soft play and bouncy castle sessions at East Riding Leisure Haltemprice. Both of these activities will still be held at their normal times, carers will be free at swimming still and nothing is going to change regarding pricing.

​

We are expecting the transition for swimming and soft play over to Aim Higher to be a smooth one and many of you will notice no difference. Claire who currently runs the Friday night swimming sessions for Maxi Fun Club will continue to do this for Aim Higher.

​

I can confirm that Maxi Fun Club’s last swimming session will be Friday 17 January 2024 and our last soft play session will be Saturday 21 December.

From Friday 24 January Aim Higher will be running the family swimming sessions and Saturday 25 January will be the first soft play and bouncy castle session run by Aim Higher. To book for these activities, please visit Aim Higher events calendar at www.aimhighercharity.com/event-calendar/

Nicola and Gill from Aim Higher would also like to release a statement that I would like to share with you all.

​

Aim Higher was set up in 2016 to empower and support families in Hull and East Riding affected by autism, Mental Health and all other neurodivergent conditions. Our mission as a group at Aim higher is to inspire, encourage and empower young people and their families using our lived experience of neurodiversity. 

 

We are dedicated to keep the swimming and soft play sessions active and keep the good work of Maxi Fun Club going. We run many different events also which Maxi Fun Club members would be welcome too.

Since Maxi Fun Club started way back at the end of 2003 we have organised and subsidised many different activities along the way. From starting off with our first activity of soft play sessions at East Riding Leisure Haltemprice, we have done so many different activities since then. From water activities at Billabong, theatre shows, horse riding hacks, swimming and splash zone at East Riding Bridlington Leisure, and even karting, making use of their two-seater kart. This list goes on! We have seen and witnessed so many children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and their families have fun from accessing the activities through Maxi Fun Club.

Finally I would like to say a huge thank you to all those that have helped in any way with Maxi Fun Club over the years, without your help and support it would not have achieved what it has, or kept going for as long as it has.
